Kindergarten [Rainbow Lorikeet] – October update.

Hello from the Rainbow Lorikeet Room.

We wish Kiara, Lucy, Indraneel, and Emma all happy 5th Birthdays.  We hope that they enjoyed their special days.

We also welcome Ashvin, Aiden, and Matisse into the Kinder room who have joined us from Busy Bees, and we hope that they enjoy spending the remainder of the year with us.

Thank you to everyone who has welcomed me back from maternity leave.  It is great to be back at work and I am enjoying re-establishing my friendships with the children and their families.  The children have been very settled in the room and have handled the change of kinder teacher well.

The room is in full swing for term four.  We have rearranged the room and made some changes based on the children’s expressed interests and also from activities which the children undertook with Heidi, Naz and Jeni last term.  The children are participating in different aspects of the program and expanding on activities to suit their needs.  A couple of activities which will be happening over the next four weeks include baking “gingerbread men” at the request of Lucy and also planting seedlings which the children will be able to take home.  Hugo requested that he make a tree and after a group discussion on how to go about making a tree it was suggested by Heidi that we plant seedlings with the children.

We are asking parents to provide feedback to us about the room and the changes which have been made.  We are also inviting parents to spend some time in the room with their children and their child’s friends, so they can see what happens during the day.  A calendar for November will be placed next to the sign in bench for parents to place their names on if they wish to volunteer some time.

We have been busy organising the Derby Street Kinder Graduation and can confirm that it will be on Tuesday 4th December at Pascoe Vale North Primary School Hall from 6:30pm.  The graduation will go for about 45minutes.  Invites have been handed out as well as graduation gown information.  Can parents please ensure that these are returned ASAP and money for gowns is returned as we need to purchase some gowns by the 12th of November so that we have them in time for the graduation?

From Monday 26th November 2012 the children who are attending school next year will be asked to bring their own lunch until the end of term.  The idea behind this is that children take responsibility for their belongings and become used to the school lunch routine.  More information will follow on this in early November.

On Thursday 6th December we will be going on an excursion to Pascoe Vale North Primary School, where the children (although not all children are going to the school) will go on a tour of the school, allowing them to see what happens in classrooms, and then we will have lunch on the oval and the children can have a play on the schools play equipment.  The excursion doesn’t cost anything and we are looking for parent volunteers to accompany us on the day.  If you can come with us, please see Belinda to discuss the working with children’s checks required by volunteers.  The children are asked to bring their lunches on this day.  The excursion is for all children attending the kindergarten including those not going to school.

Thank you Belinda, Naz and Heidi.
