Learning Environments
Cedar Rose (Infant Learning Environment)
A child’s learning journey begins at birth, and in Cedar Rose we prioritise creating a calm, safe, and nurturing environment for our youngest learners. Catering to children aged 3 to 16 months, this space is supported by four dedicated educators who provide individualised care.
We place strong emphasis on building meaningful relationships between children and educators to encourage exploration and support each child’s sense of wellbeing and connection. Familiar home routines are mirrored to promote consistency and ease transitions, offering children both comfort and valuable opportunities for learning and social interaction.
The Cedar Rose program focuses on:
- Emotional wellbeing: Creating a safe and supportive environment for the development of self-regulation and emotional security
- Social skills and independence: Encouraging positive interactions and fostering early self-help skills
- Learning through play: Providing opportunities for pretend play, musical experiences, foundational maths, language and literacy, and physical development
Dedicated Outdoor Learning Environment
The Cedar Rose room has its own dedicated outdoor learning environment.
Cottonwood (14 Months to 2 Year Old Learning Environment)
The Cottonwood learning environment is home to our 16-months to 2-year-old children. During this stage, children are discovering the world around them with increasing curiosity and independence. Children’s physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities are expanding, and they begin to show more interest in social interactions, language development, and problem-solving.
The Cottonwood program focuses on:
- learning to express themselves in ways that are developmentally appropriate
- encouraging to explore, build relationships
- providing opportunities for them to learn through play, social interaction, and exploration
- engaging in basic forms of self-regulation. Children explore their environment through hands-on experiences, which help them develop motor skills, spatial awareness, and early cognitive abilities
- Allowing children to explore their environment through hands-on experiences, which help them develop motor skills, spatial awareness, and early cognitive abilities.
Shared Outdoor Learning Environment
The Cottonwood and Wattle children share an outdoor learning environment, allowing for indoor and outdoor learning to occur simultaneously, giving children the freedom to explore both spaces throughout their day.
Wattle (2 to 3 Year Old Learning Environment)
The Wattle learning environment provides a space for children aged 2 to 3 years supported by up to 5 educators. These energetic, curious learners are eager to explore and experiment. They're captivated by discovering how things work through hands-on investigation and experience.
This is a period of remarkable growth where children are building the foundation for more complex learning ahead.
The Wattle program focuses on:
- Encouraging them to explore their curiosity, build friendships, and communicate their ideas
- Providing rich opportunities for learning through imaginative play, social interaction, and experimentation
- Beginning to practice self-regulation through routines, turn-taking, and expressing their feelings with support
- Engaging in hands-on exploration that develops gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, problem-solving, and language abilities.
