Nutrition

Nutrition at DSCC

At DSCC, we serve a seasonal menu designed to be nutritionally balanced across all five food groups, following the National Health and Medical Research Council's Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents. Our menu is displayed outside the kitchen for families to view.

Every meal is prepared fresh on-site daily using locally sourced ingredients. We partner with families to safely accommodate food allergies and intolerances, as well as vegetarian and vegan dietary preferences.

Meal Offering

Children are offered meals from the planned menu to ensure they receive a balanced diet. For children who are fussy eaters, extra fruit and vegetables are available throughout the day for them to choose from. Additionally, children under the age of one who are still adjusting to all food groups will be provided with additional food to meet their nutritional needs.

Hydration

Water is available at all times during indoor and outdoor activities. Cooled boiled water is provided for children under 12 months of age. Children are required to bring their own drink bottle each day, and only water is allowed—no other drinks should be brought into the Centre.

Food Safety and Restrictions

As all meals are prepared and served on-site, we do not permit food from home. This policy ensures the safety of all children, particularly those with anaphylaxis and severe food allergies.
